09-02-2004 OpenSees and NEESgrid Simulation Component User Workshop
This workshop will be held for OpenSees users on September 2-3, 2004 at the UC Berkeley Richmond Field Station. The workshop is intended for new users of OpenSees and for more advanced users. The first day will be geared torwards users with little or no experience using OpenSees. The second day will focus on applications and the NEESgrid simulation component. Attendance on both days is recommended for beginning and advanced users. Registration is required and space is limited, so sign up early!

08-11-2004 NEESgrid End Users Workshop
A NEESgrid End Users Workshop will be held on August 11-13. (The location of this workshop is still to be determined.) This workshop will target NEESgrid users whether or not they are part of a NEESgrid Equipment Site. It is aimed at earthquake engineering researchers and professionals rather than at programmers and sysadmins. It will introduce the NEESgrid system and the Collaboratory framework through which NEESgrid experiments are performed. The detail information is available at http://www.neesgrid.org/news/workshop_end_users.php.

08-01-2004 13th World Conference on Earthquake Engineering
The 13th World Conference on Earthquake Engineering will be held August 1 - 6, 2004 in Vancouver, BC Canada. A special theme session will be dedicated to Using the NEES Collaboratory to Advance Earthquake Engineering.

03-25-2004 Filip Filippou Seminars at UIUC
Filip Filippou will be visiting the UIUC campus on Thursday and Friday, March 25-26, 2004. On Thursday he will give an open seminar titled FEDEASLab: A MATLAB Toolbox for Instruction and Concept Development in Earthquake Engineering Simulation and Experimentation. FEDEASLab is one of the computational simulation tools that will be delivered with NEESgrid. The talk will cover the motivation and objectives of the toolbox, as well as details of its architecture and its use.
He will also give a research seminar on Friday, titled Nonlinear Frame Models for Performance-Based Engineering.
Both seminars will be held in room 1233 of Newmark Lab on the UIUC campus, from 2-4 pm.

03-18-2004 Data Curation Summit
A data curation summit meeting will be held in Chicago for SI people, representative of the NEES Consortium and data curation and management specialists.

12-04-2003 NTCP Workshop
NEESgrid will hold a workshop dedicated to NTCP topics, including concepts, architecture, and APIs, on December 4th, 2003. Anyone from the NEES Equipment Sites who will be working with the NTCP interface can benefit from this workshop, which will be presented by Laura Pearlman of ISI, lead coder for NTCP, and Erik A. Johnson of USC, developer of the Matlab-based simulation component of the MOST experiment.
Note that, unlike other NEESgrid workshops, this one will be hosted at ISI. The detail information is available at http://www.neesgrid.org/news/workshop_ntcp.php.
